Married; Emily Maria Barker (1867-1943) of 8 Queens Gardens, Eastbourne, 29 May 1893, Eastbourne. Emily was the daughter of Edwin Barker (baker of 19 Seaside Road, Eastbourne) and Maria Pocock.
Children; Emily Caroline 'Carrie' (1894-1932), Alice Sophia (1895-1976), Herbert Edwin 'Bert' / 'Bertie' (1897-1970), Frank Donald 'Donald' (1899-1973), Ruth Adelaide (1900-1926), Ada Florence (1903-1974), Leonard Henry (1904-1976), Rhoda Helen (1906-1986), Robert Bernard (1908-c.1993), Joan Marian (1910-2013).

15 May 1899; "Mrs.Frank delivered of a son." (Presumably Frank Donald)
18 December 1900; "Frank arrived at 10 a.m. {at 'Fernhurst', Uckfield} & Bourner's people brought everything up in 3 loads. Frank filled up his bookshelves in the library this evening."
5 July 1901; "Frank, Mrs., Carrie, Bertie, Donald, & the baby spent the day here."
22 August 1901; "Frank is at Herstmonceux with his family, and he holds open air services near the Woolpack Inn."
27 December 1901; "Frank arrived at 10 a.m. & James, Ellen, Reg & Harry at 1 p.m. We had the family meeting this afternoon. 14b North St {Morris-owned shops in North Street, Lewes} bought by Frank £420. 14c by me £525. 14d by Mrs.D.Gilbert £525. 14e by Mary £600. Stables by Alice £825."
5 September 1904; "Frank is supposed to be in consumption, but we must trust the supposition is quite incorrect."
19 October 1905; "Frank arrived on bicycle this afternoon. He came to submit plans of house at Horeham Road to Mr.Jn.Taylor, the surveyor to the Rural Council."
4 July 1906; "Frank announces the birth of a daughter." (Rhoda)
8 September 1907; "Frank left here this morning on bicycle for Lewes to attend a service, had a collision near Stoneham with another cyclist, and returned to Uckfield."
19 September 1907; "With Alice to Horeham Road to look at Frank's bit of land that he is about to build on. I returned with bad headache."
21 May 1908; "Mother received letter from Frank this evening - he has another child, a boy, which makes nine!" (Robert)

Sailed from Southampton on 12 June 1913 on board the Cunard ship 'Ascania' to Quebec City, and thence by train to Hamilton, Ontario.

12 June 1913; "Frank and family leave for Canada today. He goes to London, thence to Southampton, and sails in the 'Ascania'."
13 June 1913; "Frank left for London yesterday morning, and left Southampton for Canada in the afternoon."
14 June 1913; "'The 'Ascania', Frank's ship, passed the Scilly Isles yesterday."
21 June 1913; "We suppose Frank and his family have arrived in Canada."
23 June 1913; "Mary to Eastbourne about Frank's affairs - a row between her and Herbert."
15 July 1913; "A letter from Frank, who has obtained work at Hamilton, Ontario."
15 October 1913; "Mother received letter from Frank."
16 October 1913; "Received Messrs. Vinall's statement and charges re Frank's affairs. Nearly 20 pounds."
23 October 1913; "Mary thinks of buying Frank's workshop in North Street {Lewes}. 530 pounds is asked for it, but it is not worth 350."
4 November 1913; "Mary to Bexhill & Eastbourne to see about purchasing Frank's workshop and house at Bexhill."
6 December 1913; "M.S.M. received letter from Frank, who has a regular job at present."
31 January 1914; "A Canadian paper from Frank. One of Frank's boys has been in hospital with a broken toe."

In 1931 Frank revisited England from Canada and met some of his family.

Died; 1965. Many of Frank's descendents still live in Canada today.

15 May 1899; "Mrs.Frank delivered of a son." (This must have been Frank Donald whose birthday has been noted as 16 May, but the year was not known)
21 July 1909; "Frank, Mrs., new baby & Carrie spent day here. Carrie has grown a tall girl, & not too bad looking."
2 June 1913; "Mrs.Frank and two children - Ruth & Joan - spent the day here."
Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1913 with all the children.
Died; 1 September 1943.

1894 - 1932 EMILY CAROLINE "CARRIE" MORRIS

10 June 1911; "Frank arrived with his eldest daughter, Carry, on bicycles this afternoon - left at 7 pm for Horeham Road."
1 June 1912; "Frank and his eldest girl, Carrie, here this afternoon on bicycles."

Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with her family on 12 June 1913.
Occupation; Had been a 'nanny' in England, became assistant to a photographer in Canada.
Died; 27 September 1932, of chronic myocarditis.
Buried; 29 September 1932, Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton, Ontario.

1895 - 1976 ALICE SOPHIA MORRIS

Born; 16 September 1895, Eastbourne.
Parents; Frank Morris (1869-1965) = Emily Barker (c.1866-1943)
From Robert Morris's diary 11 April 1910; "Frank arrived at Ryderswells this morning to finish his job. He brought his girl Alice with him."
16 April 1910; "Alice left for Eastbourne with her father this evening."
15 July 1911; "Frank arrived with Alice & Bert on bicycles - took tea with us & left for Horeham Road at 8pm."

Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with family 12 June 1913.
Occupation; Worked in various Hamilton department stores, then as a business secretary with Westinghouse, then with the Federal Income Tax Department.
Richard Gilbert received a letter from her in April 1966 (her address was 36 Aberdeen Avenue, Hamilton, Ontario) in which she showed an interest in collecting things to do with the family, and the firm of E.Morris and Sons. This letter is in H R Gilbert's records.
Died; 30 October 1976.

1897 - 1970 HERBERT "BERT" EDWIN MORRIS

Born; 1 April 1897.

2 April 1897; "Mrs. Frank delivered of a son this morning."
3 April 1897; "Frank's baby has one foot turned - the doctor has not yet operated."
5 April 1897; "Frank's baby is to be named Herbert."
7 October 1898; "Mrs. Frank is at Clapham, the baby is at St.Thomas's Hospital. They do expect actually to cure it."
15 October 1898; "Frank's baby, Herbert, has been operated on at St. Thomas's Hospital."
20 October 1898; "Frank's child, Herbert, is home from hospital."
11 November 1898; "Frank's child again at St.Thomas's Hospital."

Married; Edith Margaret Forbes Midgley (1906-1994) in New York around 1937.
Children; Margaret Joan (1938), Ruth Elizabeth (1940)
Lived in Hamilton for all their married lives.
Died; 23 December 1973.

1900 - 1926 RUTH ADELAIDE MORRIS

Occupation; Typist and bookkeeper. Later at Royal Bank, then Bank of Toronto.
Died; 30 January 1926, aged 25.

1903 - 1974 ADA FLORENCE TRENGROVE (nee MORRIS)

Born; 22 May 1903.
Parents; Frank Morris (1869-1965) = Emily Barker (c.1866-1943)
Usually known as 'Florence'.
Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with her family on 12 June 1913.
Married; Edward Trengrove, Montreal.
Occupation; Bookkeeper at Mercury Mills.
Died; 21 May 1974.

1904 - 1976 LEONARD HENRY MORRIS

Born; 10 October 1904, Eastbourne
Parents; Frank Morris (1869-1965) = Emily Barker (c.1866-1943)
Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with his family on 12 June 1913.
Married; Irene McLaren (1908-19??)
Children; Peter (1928), Robert Currie (1934)
Occupation; drove an oil truck around where he lived, north of Toronto.
Died; 9 June 1976.

1906 - 1986 RHODA HELEN ROBERTSON (nee MORRIS)

Born; 3 July 1906.
Parents; Frank Morris (1869-1965) = Emily Barker (c.1866-1943)
Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with her family on 12 June 1913.
Married; Norman M.Robertson, who died in car accident in November 1975.
Children; John Norman Frank Robertson, married with children in 1984.
Occupation; Milliner, then set up an antique shop.
Catherine 'Katie' Morris (1900-1986) left a legacy in her will (dated 1983) to "...my cousin Rhoda Robertson of 244 Jackson Street West, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada L8P 1M5..."
Died; 31 December 1986, Hamilton.
H.R.Gilbert has a letter from Rhoda to Richard Gilbert dated November 1984. She describes herself as the only member of the family in Canada that "loves the old things". (What about Alice?)

1908 - c.1993 ROBERT BERNARD MORRIS

Born; 21 May 1908.

Robert Morris's diary (Uckfield) 21 May 1908; "Mother received letter from Frank this evening - he has another child, a boy, which makes nine!"
Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with the family on 12 June 1913.
Married; Margaret McPherson Blain
Children; Joan Elizabeth (1948),Timothy James (1950)
A letter from Alice Morris (1895-1976), Robert's sister, to Richard Gilbert in April 1966 says, in connection with some family pictures; "As I told Charlotte, I have bequeathed these three pictures to Bob's son, Timothy. He is interested in these paintings because he was fascinated to hear about his father's ancestors. His mother, who is of Scotch lineage, urged me to name Timothy as the donee. She felt they should go to a boy and not a girl, who might change her name. I am afraid he is not as interested as you suppose on historical lines. He is not yet sixteen."

1910 - 2013 JOAN MARIAN MORRIS

Born; 15 February 1910.

Emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from Southampton with family 12 June 1913.

2 June 1913; "Mrs.Frank and two children - Ruth & Joan - spent the day here."

Catherine 'Katie' Morris (1900-1986) left a legacy in her will (dated 1983) to "...my cousin Joan Mary Morris of 13 Sister Varga Terrace, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada L9B 1TB..." Why Katie thought Joan's middle name was Mary, not Marian, is not clear, but Joan confirmed that it was indeed 'Marian' to Margaret Brien (nmbrien@telus.net) in Canada, March 2009.
Occupation; Typist, secretary to the General Manager at Canada Wire & Iron, then trained as a nurse.

Died; 22 March 2013.
Received from Margaret Brien on 23 March 2013; "I just have heard that Aunt Joan has passed away in her sleep yesterday, at the great age of her 104th year. She was clear in her mind right up to the end, and her biggest challenge was being able to walk...she was quite crippled with arthritis, and she was also almost stone deaf, so conversation with her was difficult. Her funeral will be at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E., Hamilton, Ontario at 2pm Tuesday March 26th. Interment in Woodlands Cemetery, where all the rest of her family are buried. This is the last homegoing of this family of 10 children. With love and greetings to you all there, Margaret."
